Pour the powdered gelatin into a medium mixing bowl.
Add boiling water to the gelatin mix, and stir for 2 minutes until it's completely dissolved.
Stir in the cold water.
Refrigerate the gelatin mixture for at least 4 hours, or until the gelatin is firm and doesn't stick to your fingers. It should also spring back quickly after being gently pressed into.
Once your Jello has firmed up, it's ready to eat. If you're making it for dessert, you can scoop some into a dish and top it off with whipped cream or Dream Whip.

How to Make Jello Set FasterJello does have a “speed-set method,” and this cuts the set-up time significantly.
Dissolve into 3/4 cup boiling water.
Next, add 1/2 cup cold water to a 2-cup glass measuring cup. Fill with ice cubes ’til the water level reaches 1 1/4 cups.
Stir the cold water into the Jello/hot water mixture ’til slightly thickened.
Remove any unmelted ice cubes, and then refrigerate the Jello mixture for 30 to 90 minutes, or until firm.
How to Mold JelloThe small box (3-ounce) will fit a 2-cup Jello mold, and the large box (6-ounce) will fit a 4-cup mold. Lightly coat the mold with nonstick cooking spray; then wipe it out with a paper towel so that only a thin film is left.
For the small box, dissolve the Jello mix into 1 cup of boiling water, stirring about 2 minutes.
Then stir in only 1/2 cup cold water.
Pour into your mold, and set it in the fridge for about 4 hours, or ’til set.
Dip your mold into warm (not hot) water for 10-15 seconds, taking care not to let water flow over the sides.
Now, loosen the edge with a wet finger, and gently invert your Jello onto a wet plate.
